Hello parents and teachers of the West Yellowstone School,

We have scheduled an Active Killer/Rescue Task Force training at the West Yellowstone School on Thursday August 24th from 1600 - 1900 hours (or so).  The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office and Gallatin County Emergency Management will be providing the instructors for this training.  This is a great opportunity for all of the agencies in our area to get together to walk through how we would all respond to a school related event.  Some of us have had trainings like this with our own agencies, but this is our chance to form a plan and train together so that we all understand our roles.

This training will involve multiple EMS personnel from HDFD and likely some from Big Sky.  The Rescue Task Force Training incorporates both LE and EMS and will practice how to get EMS into the building to treat patients and how to get injured out of the building and to further medical care.

Agencies involved in the training:  WYPD, Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, Gallatin County Emergency Management, Yellowstone National Park, Custer Gallatin National Forest, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Montana Highway Patrol and Montana Department of Livestock.

We will be using the elementary side of the school to conduct our training.  There will be no live ammunition or loaded weapons during our training.  We will be practicing our approach to the school using our lights and sirens, but please be assured we are just training.
